These stone cabochons weigh about 7 carats each.
This is actually a semiprecious stone chalcedony pseudomorph after coral. It is ancient coral that died long ago and was buried in sediments. Then mineral rich water deposited silica in the remains and over many, many years the original organic material changes into a jasper.
Fossilized Coral retains the original characteristics of the coral, giving it the beautiful patterns!
These beautiful natural stone material is found in the Hunan Province of China.
