Metaphysical Stone Meanings

arizona-pieteriste-cabochon.png

Metaphysics is the branch of philosophy that investigates principles of reality transcending those of any particular science.

It deals with defining “being”, such as “why do we exist?”. More recently, the term "metaphysics" has also been used loosely to refer to "subjects that are beyond the physical world". A metaphysical book, for instance, may be about spirits, faith healing, healing properties or energies of stones and crystals, etc. The term “healing” is a holistic concept that extends beyond the body to encompass our minds, our emotions and our spirits. If any part of us is “sick” or out of balance, the whole being will be “sick”. Healing is the process of restoring balance and being in harmony with natural forces. Some believe we can “heal” our relationships, we can “heal” our emotions, we can “heal” our self-esteem, and we can even “heal” our financial situations!

Up until the start of the 19th century, crystals and gemstones were commonly used in the healing treatment of injuries and illnesses and many ancient cultures believed in the power of stones or crystals to protect them, provide for them, and help them spiritually and emotionally.

Then, major advances in science led us away from these beliefs. However, in the last 20-30 years the idea that crystals and gemstones have healing powers or energies has enjoyed a comeback. Today there is a widespread interest in metaphysical healing properties of gemstones and many of these beliefs have deep roots in the past.

If you wish to know the meaning of gemstones or emotional powers attributed to a certain gemstone, please click on that gemstone category on the left hand side. I have tried to give information on every gemstone I sell. I have not provided actually physically healing information as I do not feel qualified to dispense that kind of information. Most of my metaphysical healing properties information is taken from The Book of Stones-Who They Are & What They Teach, with permission from its co-author, Mr. Robert Simmons. I have known Mr. Simmons for many years and have found him to be a sincere and intelligent man. He has been writing and teaching about the metaphysical healing properties of gemstones for twenty years. His new book The Book of Stones is the most in depth, definitive guide to the world of healing crystals, minerals, gemstones, and their metaphysical properties. If you want more information get the book or contact Mr. Simmons at heavenandearth@earthlink.com. He is much more qualified than me!
