This Serpentine with dark and light green banding is known as Ricolite.

It is fairly soft, about 4.5, so care must be taken but it takes a good polish and makes lovely Ricolite cabochons.

Ricolite comes from a remote and inaccessible area in southwest New Mexico. The name Ricolite means "rich stone" and it was officially recognized in 1889.
