Rhodonite Cabochons

Our pink Rhodonite stone cabochons are from Broken Hill, NSW, Australia.

It is found at The Woods Mine in Tamworth.

Rhodonite is a maganese silicate with a hardness of 5.5 to 6.5.

This pink to red colored gemstone can be found in rare red crystals or in a massive fine grained rock.  Translucent facetable Rhodonite has been found, but is extremely rare and usually very included.

This fine grained pale pink to raspberry pink jewelry cabochon stone material has dark black manganese inclusions.

Rhodonite gets its name from the Greek word rhodos for its rose color. Rhodonite was once used to make service platters in Russia and was often given as a gift during royal czarist weddings.

Rhodonite is found in several areas including in the United States.  It has been found in North Carolina, Colorado, New Jersey, and has been named as the state gem of Massachusetts.
