This semi precious gemstone material is very well known as Cacoxenite or Cacoxenite Amethyst. Cacoxenite is a mineral that is an inclusion in quartz. It appears as gold or brown acicular needles. Cacoxenite is a rather rare occurrence, and can create a visually spectacular semi precious gemstone designer cabochon.
Most experts now claim that this is not Cacoxenite inclusions, but rather it is Geothite. It is said that Cacoxenite can never form in Amethyst as there is no phosphorus in the environments in which they crystallized. In any event these Amethyst gemstone cabochons are very unique and beautiful!
