Native Copper

Copper found in its natural state, running in veins through a gray and white quartzsite matrix. This material comes from the Chino Mine in New Mexico.

Copper has been mined for over 10,000 years. Today it is used in electrical equipment, piping, alloys, coatings, coins and computer chips. However Native Copper is much harder to find now and most copper comes from copper ore.

The name copper comes from the Greek kyprios, of Cyprus, the location of copper mines since pre-historic times.
