Lovely, bright and shiny gold Pyrite in a black Magnetite found in Arizona and at the Chino Mine in New Mexico.
The Pyrite is very bright gold and the black is dark black. The material takes a high polish. I had to shoot the stones from an angle to avoid a strong reflection-the stones are symmetrical.
This material is sometimes called Apache Gold, and sometimes called Healer's Gold by the Metaphysical believers. It is believed that it renews and increases energy levels.
Magnetite gets its name from Magnes, a Greek shepherd, who discovered the mineral on Mt, Ida, He noted that the nails of his shoe and the iron ferrule of his staff clung to a rock.
