Drusy Chrysocolla

Beautiful and sparkly blue Drusy Chrysocolla from Arizona! Drusy (or druse) gemstones are cabochons with a natural surface texture of fine quartz crystals that sparkle. Though lately any designer cabochon with natural tiny crystals on top is called a drusy cab. The drusy reflects the color of the stone. This gives us an array of spectacular textured gems of rich colors.

Chrysocolla is a copper silicate and is found in the copper oxide zones of major copper deposits. It is usually found with other copper ores, most commonly Malachite.

Chrysocolla is known as a healing stone among Native American Indian cultures where it was used for strengthening the body's resistance and bringing about calm feelings where there is upset.

The name Chrysocolla first appears in the writings of Theophrastus (315 BC). Chrysocolla is named from the Greek chrysos - "gold" and kolla - "glue" in allusion to the name of the material used to solder gold.
