Native Copper Cabochons

Native Copper running through white quartzite or a granitic epidote.

This unique semiprecious gemstone designer cabochon material comes from the Chino Mine in New Mexico.

Copper has been mined for over 10,000 years. It was one of the first metals to be worked into tools. Today it is used in electrical equipment, piping, alloys, coatings, coins and computer chips. However Native Copper is much harder to find now and most copper comes from copper ore.

The name copper comes from the Greek kyprios, of Cyprus, the location of copper mines since pre-historic times.

Metaphysical Properties of Native Copper:

Native Copper is considered a mineral of energy and mental agility.  It is said it encourages learning though receptive observation.
