- Azurite Shattuckite
These semi precious gemstone cabochons are custom cut from a rare combination of Azurite Shattuckite found in the Ajo Mine in Arizona. Azurite is a very popular gemstone used for cabochons because of its unparalleled color, a deep royal blue called "azure", hence its name. Azure is derived from the arabic word for blue. Azurite is often found with green Malachite, but more rarely can be found with other copper ores, such as sky blue Shattuckite or red Cuprite.
Shattuckite is named from where it was first found, i.e. the Shattuck mine, in Bisbee, Arizona. Until around 2003/2004, the Shattuckite Mine was the ONLY mine in the world producing this mineral.
Metaphysical Properties: Azurite is believed to stimulate intellect as well as intuition, and is great for those studying new or challenging subjects. Shattuckite is known as the stone of truth. Shattuckite is a soothing and calming stone for those who are highly judgmental, aggressive, or irresponsible.
